Design and installation guide
Aerosol suppression systems: how does it work?
Systems whose generators produce an extinguishing aerosol on activation to interrupt the chain reaction of combustion.
01
Operating principle and components
The role of each component is assessed in the context of the complete system.
Aerosol generator
The generator produces the extinguishing agent on activation. Unit quantity and placement are selected for the protected volume.
Activation and control
Electrical or suitable self-activation options depend on the selected product configuration.
Placement and maintenance
Thermal effects and clearance around the outlet are checked using manufacturer instructions; maintenance follows the product documentation.
02
Application and selection
For enclosure and equipment applications, agent quantity, clearance, environment and occupancy are assessed against the selected product documentation.
A solution for the facility
- Site information
- Combustible materials, the protected area and existing infrastructure.
- Selection approach
- Equipment and the application method are selected using this information.

What is checked together in the project
Scroll the table horizontally to view every column.
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Compatibility | The agent, equipment and combustible material are assessed together. |
| Layout | Access, environmental conditions and protection scope are defined in the project. |
| Operation | Testing, inspection and maintenance follow the selected equipment instructions. |
