About the product

An alcohol-resistant film-forming fluoroprotein family selected for the fuel type.

Product features

  1. An alcohol-resistant film-forming fluoroprotein family selected for the fuel type.
  2. Concentrate is proportioned into water; suitable discharge equipment mixes in air to form foam. The concentration is selected for the product and fuel.
  3. Packaging, storage temperature and periodic inspection follow manufacturer instructions. Different products are not mixed without confirmed compatibility.

AR-FFFP foam: film, protein blanket and alcohol resistance

AR-FFFP is the alcohol-resistant film-forming fluoroprotein family. It combines a protein blanket and film effect on suitable hydrocarbons with protective-layer behaviour on compatible polar solvents. This combination is assessed by model for multiple-liquid hazards.

The three mechanisms do not establish the highest rating on every fuel or identical results with every device. Fuel lists, concentration and application follow manufacturer data. Fluorine-free AR alternatives are compared using their own evidence.

01

How does the foam form and provide protection?

Concentrate chemistry, proportioning with water and application method together determine foam behaviour.

  1. Protein-based blanket

Correctly proportioned solution is aerated into foam. The protein structure contributes to blanket persistence, with quality verified alongside nozzle and flow conditions.

  2. Film on hydrocarbons

Fluorinated surfactants support aqueous film formation on suitable hydrocarbons. Blanket and film help limit vapour release. Fuel temperature and surface application influence this behaviour.

  3. Protective structure on polar solvents

The AR formulation helps limit foam breakdown on compatible polar fuels. Layer formation and integrity depend on fuel and application. Forceful application is not assumed suitable for every model.

Selection, hardware and product condition

Combustible material, product documentation and installed hardware are assessed together for appropriate selection.

Fuel and concentration

Fuel and evidence scope
The actual hydrocarbon, alcohol, ketone or blend is established. AR properties and any EN 1568-3 / -4 classifications are checked with fuel-specific test conditions. A blanket Class 1A rating is not assigned to every product.
Single- or dual-ratio products
Products may use different concentration notations such as 3×3 or 3×6. Hydrocarbon and polar-solvent settings are read separately. Agent quantity, proportioning and duration follow the selected model.

Proportioning and discharge equipment

Discharge preserving the blanket
Chambers, branchpipes or monitors follow validated model use. Required gentle application is identified for polar fuels. Tank and spill layouts consider delivery to the protected surface.
Proportioning accuracy
Viscosity of the polymer-containing concentrate is assessed with temperature and flow. Pumps and suction lines are matched for accurate concentration. Water type and materials contacting concentrate are separately verified.

Storage, documentation and environment

Preserving concentrate condition
Storage temperature and tank materials follow manufacturer instructions. Evaporation, dilution and contamination are controlled, with batch identification and sample checks recorded. Different concentrates are not mixed without documented compatibility.
Fluorinated ingredients and after-use management
Safety information and conditions applicable at the project location are reviewed for fluorinated foam. Agent, wash water and contaminated firefighting water are collected appropriately. A transition to NFF also assesses hardware, fuel compatibility and legacy residues.

Applications and selection approach

The actual fuel, site conditions and validated scope of the selected model govern the following applications.

Multiple-solvent production

Application need
Multiple polar and hydrocarbon hazards may be present.
Selection approach
A suitable model covers the concentration and method for each fuel.

Chemical tanks and transfer

Application need
Surface delivery method matters.
Selection approach
Blanket, film or AR behaviour is assessed for the actual fuel and tank arrangement.

Agent replacement projects

Application need
Legacy fluorinated products and hardware are reviewed.
Selection approach
AR-FFFP and NFF options are compared for performance, concentration and transition requirements.
