About the product

An alcohol-resistant fluoroprotein family; polar-solvent use depends on the product fuel compatibility.

Product features

  1. An alcohol-resistant fluoroprotein family; polar-solvent use depends on the product fuel compatibility.
  2. Concentrate is proportioned into water; suitable discharge equipment mixes in air to form foam. The concentration is selected for the product and fuel.
  3. Packaging, storage temperature and periodic inspection follow manufacturer instructions. Different products are not mixed without confirmed compatibility.

AR-FP foam: alcohol resistance in a protein-based blanket

AR-FP identifies alcohol-resistant products within the fluoroprotein family. Formulation features provide protective behaviour on compatible polar solvents alongside a blanket formed from protein and fluorinated ingredients. Hydrocarbon and polar-solvent scope are checked separately.

The presence of fuel and solvents within one facility does not establish that one product covers every risk. Fuel lists, application, concentration and hardware follow the selected model. AR-FP is distinguished from film-forming AR-FFFP.

01

How does the foam form and provide protection?

Concentrate chemistry, proportioning with water and application method together determine foam behaviour.

  1. Blanket formation

Concentrate is correctly proportioned and aerated through suitable equipment. The protein base contributes blanket behaviour. Fuel contact and application density influence performance.

  2. Alcohol-resistant protection

The protective structure in a suitable formulation helps limit foam breakdown by polar solvents. This mechanism follows product fuel scope. Different alcohols and chemical blends need separate suitability assessment.

  3. Maintaining the blanket

Foam is delivered using the method required for the model. Gentle-application needs, drainage and burnback resistance are assessed together. Mechanical disruption of the protective layer can reduce performance.

Selection, hardware and product condition

Combustible material, product documentation and installed hardware are assessed together for appropriate selection.

Fuel and concentration

Match polar fuels to the evidence
Water-miscible material, blend composition and temperature are identified. Technical evidence confirms AR performance for that fuel, rather than assuming every chemical is covered.
Fuel-specific concentration
Hydrocarbon and polar-solvent concentrations come from product data. Single- or dual-ratio notation is interpreted within model scope. Concentrate demand follows the relevant governing fuel and protection scenario.

Proportioning and discharge equipment

Aspiration and surface delivery
Branchpipes, chambers and monitors follow product discharge scope. Application protects blanket integrity on polar fuels. FP designation does not establish subsurface-injection suitability on polar solvents.
Viscosity, water and materials
Flow behaviour of the polymer-containing formulation is matched to pumps and proportioners. Water source and tank/piping materials are checked. Product changes assess mixing with legacy concentrate and line cleaning.

Storage, documentation and environment

Preserving concentrate condition
Storage temperature and tank materials follow manufacturer instructions. Evaporation, dilution and contamination are controlled, with batch identification and sample checks recorded. Different concentrates are not mixed without documented compatibility.
Fluorinated ingredients and after-use management
Safety information and conditions applicable at the project location are reviewed for fluorinated foam. Agent, wash water and contaminated firefighting water are collected appropriately. A transition to NFF also assesses hardware, fuel compatibility and legacy residues.

Applications and selection approach

The actual fuel, site conditions and validated scope of the selected model govern the following applications.

Chemical storage

Application need
Hydrocarbon and polar-solvent hazards may coexist.
Selection approach
Concentration, blanket and application are documented for each fuel.

Solvent production and transfer

Application need
Fuel composition and access to the surface vary.
Selection approach
Concentrate is matched to controlled surface delivery and suitable hardware.

Existing protein-based systems

Application need
Agent replacement can affect existing hardware.
Selection approach
Hydraulics, water compatibility and NFF options are assessed with separate performance evidence.
