About the product

A 3%×3% alcohol-resistant NFF concentrate for fixed systems protecting hydrocarbon and polar-solvent applications.

Brand
SKUM
Model
NFF-332

Product features

  1. The manufacturer specifies EN 1568 Parts 1, 3 and 4. The application is selected for the relevant fuel and equipment combination.
  2. Sprinkler, B1 nozzle and system-hardware approvals apply to listed combinations and do not represent a general approval of Özkartay systems.
  3. The manufacturer lists GreenScreen Certified Silver for NFF-332 and defines non-fluorinated as having no intentionally added PFAS.

Design and installation guide

SKUM NFF-332: 3×3 AR-SFFF and hardware within FM scope

SKUM NFF-332 is an alcohol-resistant synthetic fluorine-free concentrate used at 3% for hydrocarbons and compatible polar solvents. Selection follows its own fuel and hardware scope rather than similarity to another NFF with the same concentration.

Özkartay assesses the model alongside proportioning and discharge devices for suitable fixed systems or site applications. FM combinations, water source, flow conditions and documented environmental properties are separate checks.

01

How does the foam form and provide protection?

Concentrate chemistry, proportioning with water and application method together determine foam behaviour.

  1. Blanket and cooling

Correctly proportioned solution forms foam through suitable hardware. The blanket helps limit vapour release, with water contributing cooling. System design establishes effective delivery to the protected surface.

  2. AR behaviour on polar solvents

A protective layer limits interaction between foam and compatible polar fuel. Actual fuel and application follow performance evidence. Solvent blends require assessment of composition.

  3. Flow and proportioning

Viscosity and operating temperature affect concentrate delivery to the proportioner. Suction lines, pumps and flow range are selected for accurate concentration. Non-fluorinated designation does not establish identical behaviour in legacy proportioners.

02

Selection, hardware and product condition

Combustible material, product documentation and installed hardware are assessed together for appropriate selection.

Fuel and concentration

3×3 and water scope
Nominal concentration is 3% on hydrocarbons and compatible polar solvents. The manufacturer addresses fresh, brackish and salt water. Actual fuel, water and discharge method are matched to documented conditions.
FM 5130 and EN scope
The current sheet identifies FM 5130 and EN 1568:2018 Parts 1, 3 and 4. FM approval depends on listed hardware combinations. Another sprinkler with the same K-factor or a different proportioner is not automatically covered.

Proportioning and discharge equipment

Approved hardware schedule
Sprinklers, foam nozzles, pourers, handlines and proportioners are selected using the model and orientation conditions. FM Approval Guide scope is checked against project equipment. The schedule does not approve every similar device.
Legacy agent and line cleaning
Cleaning, analysis and necessary replacement are defined for legacy fluorinated-agent tanks and piping. Tank materials and proportioners are reviewed. Concentration and functional checks are verified with the new agent before return to service.

Storage, documentation and environment

Storage and condition monitoring
Manufacturer storage/operating range is 2–49 °C. Suitable packaging or system tanks are used, monitoring temperature cycling, dilution and contamination. Other types or manufacturers are not mixed. Sampling forms part of maintenance.
Model environmental documentation
The manufacturer identifies no intentionally added PFAS, GreenScreen Silver and inherent biodegradability following OECD 301F. This scope belongs to the product. Producer facility certification is not presented as installer certification; SDS and wastewater management are separately assessed.

03

Applications and selection approach

The actual fuel, site conditions and validated scope of the selected model govern the following applications.

Foam-water sprinkler systems

Application need
Agent and sprinkler models are validated together.
Selection approach
Orientation, models and proportioner combinations within FM scope are selected.

Hydrocarbon and solvent facilities

Application need
Actual fuel scope matters for multiple-liquid hazards.
Selection approach
The 3% setting, water source and fuel-specific method follow technical evidence.

NFF conversion projects

Application need
Legacy residues and hardware may remain.
Selection approach
Compatibility, cleaning, any replacement and site acceptance are planned together.
