About the product

Foam concentrates selected for training, distinguished by their intended purpose from products requiring actual fire performance.

Product features

  1. Foam concentrates selected for training, distinguished by their intended purpose from products requiring actual fire performance.
  2. Concentrate is proportioned into water; suitable discharge equipment mixes in air to form foam. The concentration is selected for the product and fuel.
  3. Packaging, storage temperature and periodic inspection follow manufacturer instructions. Different products are not mixed without confirmed compatibility.

Training foams: controlled exercises for personnel and equipment

Training foams are specialist concentrates for practising proportioning, hose and branchpipe handling, and foam application. They may also support observation of equipment flow and foam generation. Exercise objectives are distinguished from operational suppression performance.

Some models simulate the flow or viscosity behaviour of a particular operational agent. Others have reduced burnback resistance to facilitate repeated training fires. These properties distinguish training concentrate from the agent selected for incident response.

01

How does the foam form and provide protection?

Concentrate chemistry, proportioning with water and application method together determine foam behaviour.

  1. Proportioning practice

The product is mixed at its specified concentration. Teams can practise proportioner operation and connections. Options such as 1%, 3% or 6% belong to particular products rather than one universal training setting.

  2. Visible foam and equipment behaviour

Aerated solution supports observation of nozzle handling, application and team coordination. Similarity to an operational agent is assessed through expansion, viscosity and equipment. One training foam does not simulate every concentrate.

  3. Exercise assessment

Flow, application and personnel actions are assessed against exercise objectives. Live-fire use follows the product scope and site procedure. The observed blanket does not establish certified performance for the actual facility hazard.

Selection, hardware and product condition

Combustible material, product documentation and installed hardware are assessed together for appropriate selection.

Fuel and concentration

Training objective
Personnel skills, equipment demonstrations and measured system checks serve different objectives. Selection follows the exercise and agent behaviour to be simulated. Operational substitution requires separate performance evidence.
Product and concentration matching
Low-viscosity and pseudoplastic options may represent different equipment behaviours. Concentration and water suitability follow product instructions. Concentrate consumption and collection capacity are planned before the exercise.

Proportioning and discharge equipment

Representing the intended equipment
Pumps, proportioners, branchpipes and monitors are matched to exercise objectives. A surrogate does not automatically replace required proportioning or acceptance checks with the operational agent. Records identify what each measurement represents.
Separate agents and return to service
Training concentrate is used through an arrangement that avoids contaminating the operational supply. Cleaning, connection checks and restoration of the incident-response agent are planned. Personnel are familiarised with the difference between training and operational products.

Storage, documentation and environment

Preserving concentrate condition
Storage temperature and tank materials follow manufacturer instructions. Evaporation, dilution and contamination are controlled, with batch identification and sample checks recorded. Different concentrates are not mixed without documented compatibility.
Environmental management in training
Fluorine-free or biodegradable options are assessed through their SDS and test information. Training foam is not permission for harmless sewer discharge. Application areas, drainage, contaminated water and residues require controlled collection.

Applications and selection approach

The actual fuel, site conditions and validated scope of the selected model govern the following applications.

Fire-service exercises

Application need
Teams develop nozzle, hose and application skills.
Selection approach
Agent and scenario follow skill objectives and site procedures.

Facility emergency teams

Application need
Exercises practise site equipment and team responsibilities.
Selection approach
Equipment-relevant behaviour and restoration of the operational agent are checked.

Demonstrations and equipment assessment

Application need
Flow and foam generation are to be observed.
Selection approach
Reports identify simulation limits and what acceptance the measurement does not establish.

A family description does not certify identical performance across manufacturers. Model values and approved application conditions are matched to current product data and the relevant documentation.

Share the combustible material, water supply and existing equipment so we can assess a suitable concentrate and application arrangement together.
